CAT will remain most premium MBA entrance test

Primarily CAT 2012 scores are meant for IIMs but this year also more than 160 B- Schools have also given option to MBA aspirants to accept CAT 2012 scores.

Top B- Schools who are accepting CAT scores might have different selection criteria and which may not match with IIMs.

CAT aspirants should be ready for the second leg of selection procedure and the moment they get short listed by IIMs and other B-Schools, they will be called for PI.

But before PI, Written Ability Test / Essay Writing / Extempore Speech will be happening and over here the competition will be fierce. These sections do have space of subjectivity hence to cover it up academic background of School and College and work experience have been given weightage.

WAT will be crucial after CAT 2012!

CAT aspirants who are undergoing computer based test CAT 2012 should be aware of the fact that WAT (written ability test) will be equally crucial.

WAT will be topic based and in absence of any trend known or syllabus, you are not sure what subject can be given to write in the time limit of 15-20 minutes.

CAT 2012 is continuing on an expected pattern

CAT aspirants who have taken exam have claimed that CAT 2012 is continuing on an expected pattern with 30 questions in each section (QA/ DI and VA / LR) and 70 minutes available for each section.

Over a couple of years computer based test is looking similar because of the fact  that in first year they had many glitches and then exam conducting authority is of the view to keep the exam simple so that aspirants feel good but naturally competition will remain tough as scores will be considered on percentile basis.

Aspirants might feel a bit relaxed but serious candidates like you know that after short listing a call letter from IIM will herald another tougher test on WAT/ PI hence, after getting free, sooner you start practice for second leg of exam, it will be better.

More than 60000 females are taking CAT 2012

CAT conducting authorities conveyed to Media that female candidates are more than 28% and amounting to be 60000 in this year of CAT 2012.That is good news as women are perceived to be cool tempered in crunch situations.

Businesses are totally market driven and consumer driven hence, mangers are conditioned to adapt with newer market conditions always.

CAT also tests you on the aspects of your vulnerability of accuracy in conditioning of time limit in sections of DI/QA/LR/VA

Without gender bias it has been observed that females are supposedly a bit more loyal even if they may lack outdoor heroics. Presence of female managers triggers serious synergy in board rooms.

Engineers are more in numbers for taking CAT 2012

It has been reported in the media that more than 68% Engineers are the CAT 2012 aspirants. That means from other streams like arts, humanities, commerce and science students are not coming forward to go for MBA Education. 

It looks that MBA in general has got beating in the market and engineers in any case are professional with their basic degree of engineering and when they opt for MBA education it is perceived that they would be professionally qualified for niche industry. 

Historically CAT has been skewed for engineers as they do well in DI / QA section but many a times they land in tight situation for LR / VA.

For the last couple of years IIMs have been discussing to make some changes in forthcoming CAT to change the pattern a bit so that aspirants from other streams can also be motivated to take the exam and this may happen from CAT 2013 onwards.
