How to choose best B school?



Very often MBA aspirants keep on guessing for selection of B schools. Building or location matters least for post graduation programme like MBA which is residential in nature but infrastructure in form of resource,   pedagogy, industrial relation and placement record matters most.

Option of B School will accrue only after your getting high percentile and your further getting success in WAT / Essay writing / Extempore Speech / GD & PI.

Based on your performance on above parameters you might get selection letter and now you would get chance to avail option of B schools from where you would have received such letters. 

Besides considering USPs of B schools, you must also introspect yourself again and then find the final suitability so that you are on the trajectory of great learning of management education!

WAT - you can’t take it easy



Those candidates who are likely to get high percentile will be invited by IIMs for WAT and PI. As you are aware of that written ability test is to be taken to judge your soft skills on written communication.

WAT can become very tricky as you need to write 120 words in just 15 to 20 minutes. Even if you are writing well from your point of view but audience of your WAT might not agree with that. Hence, WAT can be termed as subjective test.

It is different story that WAT must not become subjective hence, immediately after that Personal Interview is being conducted so that fair amount of opportunity is being given to the candidates.

You just can’t take it easy at WAT as it is very crucial and critical so start practicing with immediate effect and write variety of topics to gain confidence to achieve Mission Admission MBA.

How to prepare for WAT ?



Written ability test can also become tricky if you are not having the domain knowledge on variety of subjects. You can be given topic of WAT which can be of current affairs or contemporary. 

When you write WAT, it is essential to immediately express thoughts related to topics because of two factors of time limit and word limit.

It is suggested that you should read one English newspaper and second business newspaper besides one business magazine also.

It will be equally good if you can read some general motivational books and autobiographies of successful people and must develop reading habit. 

You should read at least one chapter before you go to bed but until and unless you are not practicing for writing, WAT can be very tricky and you may hit road block even if you have got high percentile in CAT

Written ability test is positively being conducted to judge your creative writing and more on how do you synchronize your thoughts and expressions in a focused manner.

Besides a time limit, writing can also play a vital role. Topic of the WAT can vary from arts to science, biology to geography, social sciences to history etc.

Topic of the WAT is chosen with a direction not only to judge your way of writing and to understand mind set of the candidate as to how much he / she can be transformed to be a successful manager.

It is must for you to continue to read books beyond text books and 2 – 3 newspapers so that you can get enough study material but practice can make you successful in WAT.

What will be judged in WAT ?



CAT 2012 is almost over and now candidates are looking forward to result on 9th January 2013 very anxiously. Selected candidates for PI will be called for written ability test in a stipulated time of 15 minutes.

In WAT you will be judged on domain knowledge, hand writing, grammar, creative writing and expression of thoughts.

Each and every ingredient of WAT is necessary to be understood and you need to practice a lot. It is not just expression of thought which is necessary but hand writing is also very crucial. 

You need to ensure that there must be a message which should be loud and clear to the readers of WAT. With this not only you will be able to compete in WAT but you will be also building a base for your personal interview in which selection panel might ask few questions out of your WAT.
