It has been reported in the media that more than 68%
Engineers are the CAT 2012 aspirants. That means from other streams like arts,
humanities, commerce and science students are not coming forward to go for MBA Education.
It looks that MBA in general has got beating in the market
and engineers in any case are professional with their basic degree of
engineering and when they opt for MBA education it is perceived that they would
be professionally qualified for niche industry.
Historically CAT has been skewed for engineers as they do well in DI / QA section but many a times
they land in tight situation for LR / VA.
For the last couple of years IIMs have been discussing to
make some changes in forthcoming CAT to change the pattern a bit so that
aspirants from other streams can also be motivated to take the exam and this
may happen from CAT 2013 onwards.
