Voice modulation is crucial in Extempore Speech!



MBA aspirants might be told to speak extempore on assigned topic for five minutes. This is to judge your communication skills, confidence level.

Your voice modulation is crucial here as it solely depends on your quality of voice and delivery with voice whether you are being heard or not. 

You can improve in voice and delivery with practice and listen to great speeches of Nehru and Churchill. You must have observed that how U S President Barack Hussein Obama delivers his speech. Observe his dialogue delivery with multiple modulations in voice. 

Great speakers are known for their content of speech but they are liked by listeners for their voice. They are recognized by their voice. That’s the importance of voice modulation. 

Suggested to work on voice quality and practice with variety of Extempore Speech Topics to be successful.

Practice for 5 minutes for Extempore Speech!



MBA aspirants might be given a topic to speak Extempore so that you can be judged on your communication skills.

Though there can be a varied range of topic and you really cannot presume what your topic can be, but still you have to practice. The best way to practice for extempore is to practice speaking for 5 minutes every day. 

Since you can be given any topic, you can start your practice with a simple topic and move on to a little higher level. For example, let the topic be your favorite color. Then in front of your friends or seniors, speak for a minute. Ask them to keep an eye on the watch so that you don’t exceed the time limit. Continue this practice till the day of your personal assessment round.

Don’t forget to take feedback from your friends or seniors who are judging you. Keep a check on your body language, diction and speaking. Don’t be too conscious while speaking. Utilize the first few seconds in collecting your thoughts and get going about it.

In this way, you can choose a topic everyday based on your profile, the subject you studied, your interests, person who inspire you and anything you can think of which might appear in your extempore.

Your plan after CAT 2012 result !



CAT 2012 result is out today and it is in news that ten engineers have scored 100 percentile. Wow, good!  

But that is the story for news mongers, you need to focus on your admission rather than who scored what, gender analysis, category analysis etc. 

Those of you who have got high percentile might get call from new IIMs but if you could not get scores as expected, you should not lose heart. You will be getting chance to apply in top non IIM B schools. 

You must take up practice sessions on WAT, Extempore Speech, Essay writing, GD & PI. These tests might look easy to you but sometimes you may get stuck hence, you need enormous practice on variety of subjects on the above to be further successful and achieve mission admission MBA!!

Beyond CAT 2012 Result



CAT 2012 result will be announced tomorrow. Are you ready for next step? Based on your percentile either you will be shortlisted by IIMs or you may have to apply non IIM B schools. 

Shortlisted candidates will have to go through WAT which will be a test for your communication skills followed by PI. WAT can be highly crucial because the nature of test is a bit subjective and you need to impress the selection panel with your expression of thoughts and creative writing. 

Those who are not able to make in top percentile bracket will have to wait and watch for cut offs which will vary to each B school differently. 

Certainly, there also you will be tested in Essay writing or Extempore speech followed by GD and PI
