New IIMs have started new pattern of testing candidate on
WAT or Written Ability Test. Since test prep institutes over a period of time
have guided MBA aspirants in such a way that GD looks more of stereo typed shouting
platform or some call it fish market place. Off course it sounds derogatory but
in reality it is really difficult to judge candidate’s potential on leadership qualities.
To cover up draw backs WAT has been started this year. It
looks other B school also have found this test useful so they equally have
adopted for the selection of MBA aspirants.
WAT as the name denotes that a candidate would be tested on
written ability, not only on creative writing but on Grammar, focus, domain knowledge
etc. To clear WAT successfully one must rely on practice and holistic approach
of understanding current affairs.
