Show your Enthusiasm in PI

A business school already has a good idea about how you have performed in your college and university, which is why you have been selected for an interview. So, before you go for the Personal Interview, make it a point to hone your communication and people skills.

At a Personal Interview, you will be asked the reason for pursuing an MBA. You are expected to be enthusiastic while answering this question. Impress your interviewer by sharing your goals, vision and career aspirations that you have set for yourself.

If you have a story to share with your interviewer on the factors that have influenced you to pursue an MBA, don’t hold back. Your aim is to impress your interviewer with your confidence, communication skills and your enthusiasm for pursuing an MBA

Business schools want candidates who are eager and willing to participate in class discussions; they do not want an introvert who sits quietly in the corner of a room. And the Personal Interview is basically a test to understand your personality and to see if you fit into the culture of the school.

The Personal Interview is a platform for you to show enthusiasm about joining an MBA program. The interviewers want to know if you are being forced to join the business school or if you are genuinely interested in the course. So, don’t hesitate. Speak convincingly and enthusiasm will automatically show on your face and in your words.

Ignorance is no excuse

Indeed it is clear that in PI there is absolutely no excuse on ignorance. Max you can say that “I am sorry I am not aware of” But that will open Pandora box of new and volley of lethal questions from PI selection panel.

If the area of question is from domain knowledge of subject then it is for sure that rejection will follow but on the contrary if questions are of general nature then if not sure, you can positively be on tone of  admitting not knowing but better would be to supplement the willingness to learn the same in future.

Mind it, such a general advice likes above is also ignored many a times by all of us. We continue to sustain our own mind set which is injurious thus need to be changed. PI is also a test of reading and observing   positive mind set of the candidate.

Work it out and be successful in PI.

First steps on how to approach a Personal Interview?

Have well thought out answers for questions for PI such as "What are your strengths? Why are you right for that particular business school? Why is that particular program right for you?"

It shows organization and forethought if you know some specifics about the program to which you are applying and can explain why those features fit well with your career goals.

Don't waste time in PI, discussing things that are already indicated on your application. You can elaborate if the topic illustrates something about your character and preparedness for the b-school experience, but do not be redundant.

Remember that the first impression you create during PI  is very important. When asked to say "something about yourself", most candidates just blurt out their schooling, college, marks and qualifications. All this is already there in the application. Why tell the interviewer something he/she already knows.

Ideally, you would want to use this opportunity to show how you are different from the thousands of other applicants, not to blend in to the crowd.

Prepare with Personal Interview Tips and be successful.
