Explain your Goal in PI

Since you are about to embark on an MBA journey, inform the interviewer in PI that  how the MBA fits into your goal. If you are keen on pursuing a job in the management role, enlighten your interviewer on the specific path you have in mind (e.g. finance manager, marketing manager, or strategy manager).

When your career goals are in line with what you plan to pursue in a business school, it shows that you are focused and organized and PI panel likes it.

These are some of the qualities that PI panel is looking for. No business school wants candidates who are confused about their career goals or plans in life. So, always conduct in-depth research on your short term goals and be consistent with them throughout the interview.

Do’s and Don’ts at the Group discussion (GD)

Candidate must not look at the GD panelists & continuously keep eye contact with each member of GD batch.

It is really good if candidate can take the initiative but it is very important to know the subject in depth failing which initiative will be lost like fluid and it will be futile and candidate may not be able to recover

Candidate should not interrupt to other batch members and it at all it is required then permission request should be put in a very humble manner for your putting views and at this time additional information should be added or supplemented

Speak politely and clearly. Use simple and understandable words while speaking. Don’t be too aggressive if you are disagreeing with someone. Express your feelings calmly and politely

Be confident. Do not try to dominate anyone. Keep positive body language. Show interest in discussion

Do not shout and speak just to increase your speaking time. Don’t worry even if you speak less. Your thoughts should be sensible and relevant instead of irrelevant speech

Speak less and listen more Pay attention to others. This will make coherent discussion and you will get involved in the group positively.

Do not take it casually. No fancy and funny dressing. You should be comfortable while speaking in a Group.

PI is final step for MBA admission

The Personal Interview is the last step of the selection process for an MBA admission. So, make the most of it by preparing well for it. Remember that you don’t get a second chance if you don’t perform well in the Personal Interview.

So, go through the list of ‘Dos and Don’ts’ carefully and exude confidence and enthusiasm during the interview. Ensure that you arrive at the interview room at least 10 minutes before your interview. And dress appropriately for the interview. According to Forbes, you only have seven seconds to make a good and a lasting impression. And in the first seven seconds, an interviewer will judge you based on your handshake, eye contact, and confidence level.

Either have a mock interview session with your peers or practice before a mirror before going into the interview room. As the saying goes, ‘practice makes perfect’, by rehearsing several times, you will automatically gain confidence, and you will not make mistakes during the Personal Interview.

So, maintain your poise and convince the interviewer that you are up to the MBA challenge. Once you clear the Personal Interview, you will be one step closer to becoming a successful business leader.

Maintain respectful tone in PI

Many candidates have excellent and interesting content to share with their interviewers but because of their incorrect tone, they do not clear the Personal Interview round.

While answering a question, it is important to vary your tone. Do not sound monotonous. This indirectly conveys to your interviewer that you are bored with the interview.

You need to show enthusiasm in your voice. Keep your voice alive by matching your facial expressions with your content in PI. Also, if your natural voice is shrieky and high-pitched, tone it down a little.

In PI, speak in a lower register of your voice to sound friendly, mature and confident. Many candidates have the tendency to speak quickly when they are nervous. Remember that when you speak quickly, your interviewer might miss out on important information. So, speak at a normal speed and keep your sentences short and crisp to be successful in PI.

Be Informative in PI

One of the mistakes that many candidates make during a Personal Interview is sharing information that is not relevant to the question. In a Personal Interview, you are tested on your communication skills.

If you do not answer to the point or share relevant information, it shows that you are not paying attention to the question that the interviewer is asking you. This reflects badly on your interpersonal skills.

Generally, you should answer a question in four to six lines. Also, do not beat around the bush while answering questions. Give direct answers that are informative.

Another mistake that some candidates make is by responding in monosyllables like ‘yes’ and ‘no’. A Personal Interview is a platform for you to stimulate further discussion and show the interviewer your genuine interest in pursuing an MBA. So, you have to put some thought into your answers and convey them in an enthusiastic manner.
