CAT will continue to be unpredictable

It is well said that all that which is predictable can’t be termed as exam. The same is much true for CAT as this exam is supposed to be most tough for MBA aspirants and sets parameter for all other exams.

Since aspirants take exam on different dates and at different shifts with different sets of exam hence, CAT becomes  much more unpredictable.

Nature of exam is as such that you are tested on abilities on your analytical skills in sections of DI/ QA rather on your knowledge.

Likewise you are tested for your comprehending power and speed in LR/ VA

Off course in absence of any prescribed syllabus CAT will continue to be as tough and will never be predictable.

For succeeding in CAT you need to be regular in practice with perseverance.

CAT will haunt those who are ill prepared

CAT will continue haunt those who have taken exam because of herd mentality. CAT exam has basic requirement of clearing fundamentals first

Indeed those who have not prepared for CAT for a minimum six months and have not practiced with Mock Test are likely to find themselves in shell and wont’ be able to take on test.

Laborious CAT aspirants had been preparing for the last many months and by the time dates were announced they were ready for revisions.

Sections of CAT are tedious if not practiced. If DI /QA test you for analytical skills then LR/VA tests you on your absorbing and comprehending skills.

However the candidates who are clear on fundamentals are likely to achieve success and others will continue to be haunted by CAT.

Story of serious CAT 2012 aspirant!

Hurrah! Now the time has come to compete at CAT and I was waiting for this for the last six months. I had been preparing for exam for the last so many months.

I had my own problems as I am working in IT Company hence; time is very precious commodity for me. When I went through Mock Tests I found that am miserable poor in DI and QA sections whereas I perceived for myself to be excellent in these sections.

Later on SWOT, I found that my practice is minimal so took decision to hire driver so that on way and return from office I got three hours to practice CAT sections. In all, I have put in more than 500 hours on tests.

I am fully prepared to be successful in CAT 2012.

After CAT exam what?

Computer based test CAT will not be only hurdle to clear on way to admission for IIMs rather you can treat is as first stepping stone.

With CAT you are judged only for your analytical skills and for that matter two sections of CAT like DI/QA & LR/VA are sufficient within a time frame.

Afterwards when you are shortlisted for second phase of selection process on the basis of your percentile, you will be tested and grilled for your soft skills like communication, confidence, presence of mind, attitude and over all body language.

Competition will be more fierce and certain amount of subjectivity is involved in these tests hence, IIMs will measure you for your academic achievements also. In certain cases work experience is also taken in account.

Aspirants are advised to take up soft skill subjects immediately after exam as time will be too less for unwritten rules.
