Why Extempore Speech at IIMs?

Over a period of time MBA aspirants developed a trend of speaking loudly on the premise that they have to exhibit leadership quality at GD which is being conducted at many B schools. 

New IIMs found that undoubtedly leadership skill set has to be judged for aspirants but since with almost GD group is shouting, it would be difficult to scale the points with that minimum error and injustice might happen to few aspirants.

Another aspect is that students who come from humble background, sometime they are not able to match with those who have had better exposure because of family background so disparity needs to be removed or better option have to be scouted. 

Extempore speech is found to be a better tool to understand inside story of being professional, communication command, domain knowledge, skill set of understanding audience, non verbal communication. However conducting GD is not undermined as that also has its own pluses.

Impromptu or extempore speaking within a limited time frame on assigned topic is itself a challenge which must be won by students. A bit of practice supplemented with reading news papers, attaining latest general awareness, enriching vocabulary, quotes of great people will help to bond audience of speech.

No matter what may be the topic, Extempore Speech is basic test of confidence and speaking out from heart while maintaining eye to eye contact with all as audience loves it!

Why MBA?

Panic button is pressed by graduates of final year students to rush for gathering information on doing MBA. But many a times they flock together with herd mentality and peer pressure to go for MBA without having thought as to why they should opt for MBA?

CAT 2012 Strategy

CAT 2012: Preparation Countdown

Failure in planning is an invitation to certain failure. Scaling heights on mountains requires skill set of mountaineering besides will power, determination, sound health and management of risks.   Likewise aspire to succeed in CAT 2012 demands perseverance of practice!

CAT 2012: 140 minutes exam

Indeed CAT 2012  is the most prestigious and highly competitive and unpredictable entrance exam for thirteen IIMs Viz; IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore, IIM Lucknow, IIM Shillong, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM  Kashipur, IIM Trichy, IIM Rohtak  and IIM Udaipur.

Selection from CAT is based on percentile basis which makes CAT much more competitive. Seventy minutes for each section and total of 140 minutes require speed but to be supplemented with accuracy.

Again to have speed with which you can analyze for selection and rejection for opting out from questions is a herculean task. Practice and practice is the only alternative to speed up for attempting all questions in both sections which will consist of VA, LR, DI & QA in CAT 2012

CAT 2012: Mission Admission MBA

With single focused mind unachievable have been achieved, examples are many but to motivate ourselves let us  name few like  Graham Bell, Wright Brothers, Archimedes, Galileo Galilei  and off late Lance Armstrong and our own Yuvraj Singh.

CAT 2012 preparation: CAT, Just 5 months away

It is middle of May 2012 and since CAT 2012 is approaching very fast, it would be worthwhile to note certain dates and mark them on calendar. Notification of CAT 2012 is likely to be published in national dailies in 2nd week of August 2012 with exam window of 25 -28 days starting from 2nd week of October 2012.

Time really fleets so serious CAT aspirants have  already started preparation and many of them are busy in having clarity on fundamentals and few are already on to practice of all sections viz;   VA, DI, LR  & QA.

It is assumed that there will be two lakh & twenty five thousand plus aspirants who are likely to take CAT 2012.  Competition is very tough for the intake of students in 13 IIMs. 

Practice, speed and accuracy are three mantras for cracking CAT 2012 so fasten your seat belts before you hit air pocket.
