Analytical and Numerical Ability in TISSNET

MBA aspirants who are taking TISSNET can expect a small number of very basic visual reasoning and inferential questions in this section.

Also there may be a set or two consisting of basic DI questions which you need to answer on the basis of a graph or a pie chart.

The remaining questions are quantitative ability questions not very different to those in the other exams.

The subjects covered in the last year’s exam include time and work, quadrilaterals, numbers, averages, profit and loss, mathematical series, etc.

You should be able to solve this section fairly quickly as all you need is a grasp on the fundamentals. This section had 15 questions last year.

No harm to prepare from CAT Mock Tests and be successful in TISSNET which is being conducted on coming January 13, 2013.

TISSNET 2013: Important Features

The first noteworthy feature of the TISSNET exam is that it hasn't had negative marking, sectional time limits or sectional cutoffs, at least for the last 2-3 years.

This means that you have all the reason to focus on the sections you are good at and still can manage to score good in those which troubles you a lot. It also gives you the opportunity in the end to try your luck and take blind guesses for the questions which you were not able to solve.

The second thing is that applicants to the HRM program have to take two tests. The first one is common across all the 16 post graduate courses of TISS and it seeks to test your basic cognitive ability. The second test is different for each course and the one for the HRM program is more or less like any other management entrance test.

Prepare well and get success at TISSNET being conducted on January 13, 2013!!!

Be Alarmed on XAT 2013

The statistics which states that only 1 of 250 candidates makes it into XLRI can rattle any candidates, but if the number of serious aspirants is taken into account, it would drastically fall. You should understand that this exam is designed to measure your ability of maintaining a level head under pressure.

So avoid getting demoralized or disheartened by such statistics. It's not as much an examination of your knowledge base as much as it is of your nerves. Maintain a cool head during the examination.

Confidence does not come overnight. Studying all the topics, practicing DI and quantitative problems is of utmost importance. While this builds up your speed and analytical skills, it also gives you much-needed confidence to crack the exam.

How to crack XAT 2013?

The duration of the test is 120 minutes for the objective type section and an additional 20 minutes is provided at the end of the 2 hours for the essay writing section.

In order to crack XAT, you should first know how the exam is different from others. In XAT, the Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation questions are in one section. The second section is English Usage (EU) and RC. The third section is Analytical Reasoning (AR) and Decision making.

In the recent past, the XAT has had more questions than the CAT exam to be solved in lesser time. While in the CAT exam it may be possible to get a decent shot at all questions, in XAT it is more advisable to drop tough looking questions, and find the easier ones to solve.

Thus, selection of easier questions is very important, which are very well inserted between the tougher questions, the reason for the perception of XAT being a tougher nut to crack than CAT.
