CAT 2012: Preparation of Vocabulary


If you are a CAT 2012 aspirant, good vocabulary could be you buoy. It is very important for a high CAT percentile and it is required for solving almost all the questions based on Sentence Completion and Reading Comprehension in CAT Exam. But this not it!

CAT 2012: Mother of All Exams: What are the other exams I can sit for if I prepare for CAT?


You can sit for almost all the management entrance exams that test the aptitude of the candidate like XAT, MAT, SNAP, CET, SRCC GBO, IIFT, JMET, NMAT, etc. Rather it will not be wrong to call CAT the mother of all MBA Entrance Exams in India. 

The aptitude test consists of English (verbal ability and reading comprehension), Quantitative Ability (mostly Class X level math, except in some exams like XAT and JMET where pure math, which is taught at the higher secondary level, questions are asked), Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency and Reasoning. 

In some exams such as MAT (Management Aptitude Test, another all-India common entrance exam), SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test, for the institute in Pune), IIFT (entrance test for the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade), IRMA (entrance test for the Institute of Rural Management at Anand) and ATMA (the Association of Indian Management Schools' Test for Management Admissions, another all-India exam), there will also be an additional section of General Awareness.

As can be seen, once you prepare for CAT, you can attempt almost all the management entrance exams.

In addition, the preparation will also be helpful in cracking the campus recruitment related exams. However, the patterns of different exams have to be studied and attempted individually to get maximum results.

CAT 2012: Tips for scoring in Quant


Quant is tough but if planned and prepared well, it can be handled with perfection. Here are some tips to help you score in Quant. Always make a planned move. 

Divide all questions into three categories, according to your knowledge and understanding of concepts.

a.     Easy These are your strong points. You are comfortable and can solve them in the least possible time.
b.     Can be handled: You know how to tackle them but you need to devote more time. Your comfort level is not as good as you may have come across such questions only in the study material and not during school days or college.
c.   Tough: You have no idea how to do them as they may not have a standard formula, and may involve higher order mathematical techniques or a mix of two or more techniques.

CAT 2012: syllabus


Most common FAQ is what’s the syllabus of CAT 2012 written test?

There is no any syllabus for CAT as such. However, based upon the previous year’s analysis and study, it is quite clear that CAT requires you to have strong basics. If you have studied Math and English quite well till your 10th Standard, then CAT is for sure, your cup of tea. But, if not, then also you have sufficient time to go through your school basics and broader your scope for admission into one of the top most MBA/PGDM institute of India.

Written Test will be divided into 2 sections:

  1. Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
  2. Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning
These two sections will be implemented sequentially with separate time limits.

The examination will be of 140 minutes. Candidates will have 70 minutes to answer 30 questions within each section which will have an on-screen countdown timer.

CAT is test for more of common sense, speed and accuracy with immense expression of will power. Prepare with plenty of practice and be winner for achieving goal of CAT 2012.
